VOLUNTEER WITH US

Thanks to the help of dozens of amazing Workawayers in 2019, we created something from nothing! What a first year it was! So much gratitude to all the folks who cycled through here, we made family with all of you.

Want to join us for 2021? ** after all the Covid craziness settles of course. 

 

We are looking for awesome guests -- people who are excited about life, open minded, positive, and have gifts to share -- be it food, music, natural building, farming, art etc. We are both trained in Permaculture and will teach you all along the way. Please write to us about what projects you are interested in / what you bring to the table and how you can aid our mission :)

Our farm is located in Panchgani, Maharashtra -- a beautiful hill station 4 hrs SE of Mumbai, and 2 hrs from Pune. The town is small but very popular for tourists and the region is densely forested, great for hiking, trekking, biking, and relaxing.

 

While we are still open to hosting short term volunteers (2-4 weeks); we are now more interested in hosting long term volunteers (3+ months).

PROJECTS

  • creating an extensive grey water system

  • doing some major building projects using only earthen materials (cob, earthbags, stone, bamboo etc)

  • dig lakes and ponds

  • creating a food forest on our lower 1/4 acre with comprehensive guilds

  • building our Rise Up kombucha brand

  • strengthening the local community organic farmers market we launched in Jan. 2020

  • building a temazcal sweat lodge and other spaces for the healing arts (all using natural materials)

2019 PROJECTS

COMPLETED

  • extensive soil building using the sheet mulching method

  • created garden beds and started growing!

  • planted 35 trees

  • built a kick ass chicken coop with now 35 chickens

  • laid drip irrigation

  • built a green house

  • built a composting toilet

  • built a massive brick staircase

  • lots and lots of wood working to meet all of our furniture needs

  • converted a breezeway into a workshop

  • murals and paintings and lots of 'sprucing up'

  • started a farmers market

  • launched our kombucha brand
